All-inclusive Riviera Maya with kids

Welcome to a new world of family-friendly, all-inclusive Mexico resorts. When our oldest was just nine months old, we packed up her car seat and diapers and boarded a plane for the Riviera Maya, Mexico. We had never tried an all-inclusive resort, although we knew we’d be spending a lot of time at the resort with a napping baby. Since then, we’ve been to even more all-inclusive resorts.

What we like:

  • Drinks by the pool, snacks, and meals were all included.
  • We saved money, making it easy to stick to our budget.

What we could lived without:

  • Our experience at all-inclusive resorts can be limited and eating the same daily breakfast can get old.

Fortunately, the food choices and children’s amenities at all-inclusive resorts have improved dramatically over the years and luxury resorts are rolling out the red carpet for families. After researching all-inclusive luxury resorts in the Riviera Maya, I can’t wait to go back to try another one. Here are three family-friendly, all-inclusive luxury resorts in the Riviera Maya to consider for your next Mexico vacation:

Azul Fives Hotel

Azul Fives Hotel, a modern, all-inclusive boutique hotel by Karisma, is just 40 minutes south of Cancun and caters to families. Families can stretch out in style, with one, two, and three bedroom penthouse suites. Coined “Gourmet Inclusive,” this hotel includes gourmet services and amenities such as beach butlers, concierge, 24-hour room service, premium beverages, and gourmet cuisine. Kids club is available for ages 4-12.

A member of Preferred Hotels & Resort and Preferred Family Certified property, Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmeralda is in an all-inclusive luxurious retreat for families, featuring amenities like swim-up suites, a family concierge, and 10 restaurants and lounges. All meals, snacks, drinks, entertainment, and activities are included. Kids and parents are likely to love the pirate ship located in the family concierge pool.

Viewfinder Tip: Take a pool break to visit Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza.

Grand Velas

Another great hotel, the Grand Velas rolls out the red carpet for families with its “Beyond All Inclusive, Beyond All Compare” signature services and is recognized as a AAA Five Diamond Award hotel. Luxury indulgences include poolside and beach waiter service, daily sports and activities programs, yoga, pilates, tai chi, and kids club.
