Empowering women with Girls Who Code

At Expedia, we’re much more than just a travel company. Within our walls, you’ll find some of the technology industry’s most talented designers, engineers, developers, and data scientists. These people are building cutting-edge solutions and creating groundbreaking new ways to solve many of the biggest challenges people face in travel today.

Recognizing travel is a global wonder, we encourage and celebrate diversity within our teams and are supportive of doing our part in helping to foster a workplace environment that empowers women to pursue and excel in technology careers. That’s why we love Girls Who Code. The organization’s commitment to providing resources to educate and equip girls with the knowledge and skills they’ll need to succeed in computer science (CS) fields is something we can really get behind!

This coming summer (as in, the summer of 2015), we are proud to sponsor the Girls Who Code’s 7-week Summer Immersion Program for high school junior and senior girls. Daily classroom instruction, combined with workshops and demos by impressive female CS engineers, designers, and leaders in the technology sector, will make for a truly unique educational program.

Participants will receive more than 250 hours of intensive training and hands-on experience in a variety of CS programs. They also will receive one-on-one mentoring, guidance, and encouragement from female Expedia employees who already are established in the industry.

The application for the 2015 Summer Immersion Program will be available January 15, 2015. Girls can complete an interest form now at www.girlswhocode.com.

We’re so thrilled to be a part of Girls Who Code’s program designed to engage and inspire today’s girls. We can’t wait to see what these amazing young women come up with!
