What kind of music comes out of Sin City? The result might surprise you. Power pop, indie rock, and emo bands populate this playlist as the emotional side of Las Vegas comes out. From stars such as Brenden Urie to Imagine Dragons, this playlist showcases the musical stars to come out of Las Vegas.


1. Mr. Brightside – The Killers – 2004

One of the most recognizable opening riffs of the 2000’s, Mr. Brightside was possibly one of the most-listened to songs of the decade. The song that launched a thousand memes, Mr. Brightside would return to cultural relevance in the 2010’s as a much loved song of the internet.

2. Miss Independent – Ne-Yo – 2008

The lead single from his appropriately titled Year Of The Gentleman, Ne-Yo has embodied a stylish gentlemanly quality in nearly three decades of music. His 2008 garnered a Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year along with great commercial success.

3. I Write Sins Not Tragedies – Panic! At The Disco – 2005

Formed by childhood friends Brendon Urie, Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith, Panic! At The Disco was one of the premier bands of the emo, power pop era. The band would release six studio albums on their way to becoming one of the most popular high school bands of the decade.

4. Only The Young – Brandon Flowers – 2010

The front man of the band The Killers, Brandon Flowers also released solo music in between albums for the band. Growing up a Mormon outside of Las Vegas, Flowers has credited the proximity to the city as being a great testing ground for his musical abilities. Flowers released two studio albums as a solo artist and five with The Killers.

5. It’s Time – Imagine Dragons – 2012

One of the best-selling bands of the 2010’s, Imagine Dragons released four albums in the decade and sold over twenty million albums world-wide.

6. The Drug In Me Is You – Falling In Reverse – 2011

Formed while the band’s front man was still in prison, Falling Reverse grew to be a member of the hardcore, glam metal scene. The band released four albums in the 2010’s and toured widely.

7. Angel With A Shotgun – The Cab – 2011

One of the most critically acclaimed alternative rock bands of the 2000’s, The Cab only released two albums but both were highly rated by alternative music magazines.

8. ME! – Taylor Swift, Brendon Urie – 2019

Best known as the lead singer and front man of Panic! At The Disco, Brendon Urie has also branched out into a solo career. One of his first major projects was working with Taylor Swift on her 2019 single ME!

9. Insurance – The Higher – 2007

Pop rock band The Higher toured widely from 2002 to 2012 and were a staple for pop punk and emo shows throughout the decade.

10. Where My Girls At – 702 – 1999

Hip-hop group 702 featured a neo Motown style with modern hip-hop influences. They were most popular in the 90’s and went on to release three studio albums.

11. An Uncomfortable Routine – Curl Up And Die – 2005

Formed in 1998, Curl Up And Die is a metalcore band that released two albums in the 2000’s. They also released four EP’s and several singles.

12. Baddest – Amarionette – 2018

Post-hardcore band Amarionette released three albums in the 2010’s to go with several singles.

13. Super Lowkey – JGivens – 2015

Christian hip-hop musician JGivens has released four studio albums, three of them independently. He continues to create music tours throughout the region.

14. One For the Money – Escape the Fate – 2013

Formed in 2004, Escape The Fate is termed screamo, metalcore or hard emo with their heavy instrumentals and screeching vocals. They released six studio albums between 2006 and 2018.

15. Fly To The Angels – Mark Slaughter – 1989

The lead singer and founder of Slaughter, Slaughter works in hard rock and glam metal and sold more than five million albums in the 90’s.

16. Paid in Sin – I Am – 2018

Formed and disbanded in 1995, I Am were classified as progressive rock and alternative rock.

17. Baby, Please Don’t Go – Franky Perez – 2014

Based out of Las Vegas, Franky Perez works in rock and roll and blues rock and has toured with luminaries such as Slash and Myles Kennedy. He has also performed with many cover bends and even a Finnish metal band. Perez currently sings for a supergroup called Deadland Ritual.

18. Bankrupt – Skyler Stonestreet – 2018

Singer-songwriter Skyler Stonestreet has writing credits on some of the biggest hits of the 2010’s. She’s worked with artists such as Hailee Steinfield, The Chainsmokers and Sabrina Carpenter.

19. The Better Off – The Day After – 2014

A short lived Las Vegas band, The Day After featured a 90’s alternative rock sound to go with quality songwriting that won them a cadre of loyal fans.

20. Gone in a Flash – Backhouse Lily – 2012

Rock duo Backhouse Lily feature hard rock influences to go with a more twenty-first century sensibility. They released four albums in the 2010’s.
