London boutique hotels with kids

With so many London hotels from which to choose, how do you narrow down your choices to find the perfect London boutique luxury hotel for your family? In our research, booking a boutique hotel in London for a family of four is a bit tricky. As much as we prefer a boutique hotel, many luxury hotels in London don’t have the space to accommodate a family in one room, or they simply lack connecting rooms. We discovered several hotels big on style that could make room for us, only to learn that it was not an optimal location for walking around the city with kids.

On our most recent trip to London with our family, we scoured the Internet to find a London hotel that was big on personality, but could accommodate our family of four. We ultimately landed on the Metropolitan London by COMO. However, there were several other hotels on our list that we look forward to giving a go on our next visit to London. Here’s our short list of luxury boutique hotels in London that are big on style, personality, and pampering, where you can take the kids, or escape as a couple.

Viewfinder Tip: Not all London boutique luxury hotels can accommodate families due to space or lack of connecting rooms. Be sure to call the hotel directly to confirm family accommodation options before booking.

The Metropolitan London

After intense research and coordinating last minute dates with hotels, we settled on the Metropolitan London, home base for our most recent trip to London with the kids. Located in the Mayfair neighborhood, we loved the Metropolitan’s spacious connecting rooms, making for a very comfortable retreat with kids. The concierge staff was also incredibly helpful, securing advance tickets to major tourist attractions, booking dinner reservations, and offering recommendations for family-friendly sightseeing. While we didn’t see many other families, we felt right at home and were treated graciously by the staff. The kids were even welcomed with COMO t-shirts and gift packs. The Metropolitan is also just around the corner from Shepard Market, a vibrant little square with great restaurants, pubs, and shops.

The Zetter Hotel, located in South Kensington, hit my radar because it coins itself as a “small hotel with a big personality.” Each of the 59 hotel rooms are styled in my favorite, quirky, vintage-modern style. The Zetter Hotel is close to St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Museum of London. While most rooms are too small to accommodate families, The Zetter Hotel has the “Townhouse Suite,” which includes a separate sitting room and room for rollaways.

The Ampersand Hotel

The hip style of The Amperstand Hotel caught my eye for our next trip to London. I love the beautiful use of luxe details found throughout the rooms, suites, and common spaces. All of the amenities you’d expect in a luxury hotel are included, such as complimentary WiFi, 24-hour room service, and a Nespresso machine in every room. The rooms and suites have gorgeous details and the hotel is conveniently located in the city center, close to the Natural History Museum and Kensington Gardens.

Are there bigger hotels in London that have more spacious accommodations for families? Absolutely. Will it take more work on your own to identify boutique luxury hotels in London? Certainly. But if you are like me, and you crave a luxury boutique hotel that is just a little different, big on style, fun, and injected with a little creativity, these boutique hotels could be a wonderfully unique home base for your family’s next trip to London.
