A taste of luxury in Los Cabos, Mexico

There are many ways to enjoy Los Cabos in Mexico’s Baja Peninsula—from exploring popular scuba diving sites off the coast of the Cabos San Lucas Corridor to going on fajitas cruises during sunset. The to-do list in Los Cabos is long and the reason why it’s sunny shores are such a popular destination for travelers.

My absolute favorite way to enjoy Los Cabos is while enveloped in the lap of luxury. There are endless resorts to choose from and I would recommend trying a few of them out during each visit as they all have something different to offer. Here are two special resorts that make for a great start into the immersion of luxury vacationing in Mexico.

Art and music lovers will love the eclectic and chic Hotel El Ganzo. It overlooks the Marina at Puerto Los Cabos, just minutes away from Acapulquito Beach, and has easy access from downtown San José del Cabo.

El Ganzo is more than just a hotel. It is an art gallery featuring the work of international artists, photographers, painters, and even musicians throughout their property. The underground music studio often hosts musicians from around the world who are invited to create, record, and share their art with hotel guests. Concerts are often held near the rooftop bar where you can grab a drink while poolside during the day, or sit and watch the sunset while listening to live music at night.

The moment you enter your room you are greeted by the sounds of featured artists playing from the El Ganzo station on your TV. Get a room with a balcony overlooking the marina and enjoy the views.

This is an adults-only hotel, so come ready to relax or party, but leave the kids at home.

Viewfinder Tip: For a local farm-to-table experience, try the Acre Baja Restaurant located on a 25-acre farm close to both resorts.

For a more laid-back, hacienda-style experience, stay at the Casa del Mar Golf Resort and Spa. Book yourself a balcony suite overlooking the Sea of Cortez for spectacular views of both sunset and sunrise. Enjoy dinner in any one of the three restaurants, or just stay in and take advantage of their 24-hour room service. Delight by the pool, spend an afternoon in the in-house spa, or choose one of the three golf courses to play in.

This family-friendly, yet spacious and romantic, resort has a little bit of everything for guests to enjoy, including easy access to a desert nature reserve for hiking, zip-lining, ATV riding, and more.

Continuous construction and renovation in the area after the 2014 hurricane increases your options and makes your choice just a bit harder. Start here and know that however you choose to experience Los Cabos, it will only be the beginning of a love affair with Mexico.
